In order to protect non-plating areas of components various methods have been used. Lacquer, P.V.C. tapes, stopper bushing are the traditional, lengthy & non-effective processes. Lacquer gets peeled off during the process and gets cracked, while, P.V.C. tapes gets leached out and the dissolution of its adhesive may contaminate the plating solution. 

Consequently, the majority Electroplaters around the globe are switching over to protection based polymer coatings, as an alternative method. 

"SHAIL MASK" range of coatings offer a series of formulations and methods to choose from, depending upon the base materials. These are available in pasty and liquid form and can be applied by brushing, spraying and dipping process. Before applying, the base material should be cleaned & degreased.

SHAIL JIG COAT-777

Coating material for Jigs
  • single-pack paste

  • dries off within 12 hours at room temp., hence saves heavy expense of ovening the jigs before & after the coating.

  • no primer reqd.

  • provides tough chemical & electrical insulation

  • resistant to very high temp. (upto 300 C)

  • patching up of torned out coating is possible by reapplying and then drying for about 12 hours for achieving a complete chemical weld.

  • Recommended Dry Film thickness : 1 mm to 3 mm or as per the requirement.

for  Electroless Nickel, Gold & Silver plating

  • single pack

  • can be manually stripped

  • has a high degree chemical resistance

  • gives outstanding protection against corrosive action of hot alkaline and acid solutions

  • can withstand temp. atleast upto 150 C

  • can be applied simply by brushing, dipping or spraying.

  • requires atleast 3 hours for curing at room temp.

  • fast curing can be achieved by heating the. job upto 70 C temp. for half an hour.

  • Recommended Dry Film thickness : 0.2 to 0.5 mm for hard chromium plating and 0.5 mm to 1 mm for electroless nickel and silver plating.

  • Dry Film of this compound is electrically nonconductive and unaffected by any corrosive action of the solutions.
