Shailcote B is a stop-off material engineered to inhibit the diffusion of carbon into selected areas of components during the pack carburization process. It is specifically formulated for use in environments employing charcoal or charcoal carbonate mixtures as carburizing media.
The application of a uniform dry film, typically 50-100 microns in thickness, provides effective carbon diffusion resistance, ensuring precise control of hardened and unhardened regions. This allows for enhanced component performance and easier post-treatment machining in non- carburized zones.
